A View of the Cloud Ring

I just had to park my Itty V outside the station in Stacmon and admire the view into Cloud Ring.

Sticks and Stones War: UPDATE

Well, the  deadline for CONCORD to invalidate the War Dec came and went with no word. Mnemonic Enterprises must have paid to keep it going another week. We almost made the week with no losses after the first night. ME never seemed to have more than four pilots on at any time and they refused to engage, even though we went looking for them almost every night. On what we were hoping would be the last night, we took a fairly expensive hit with the loss of a faction Typhoon
Whether this kill made ME bolder, or whether they have money to burn on Alliance Warfare is something we'll just have to wait and see. I just hope they'll bring some pilots online to come out and meet us; at least justify the cost of keeping a war going. So far, ME is winning the war, mainly by killing us with boredom.

The Sticks and Stones War

The temptation to call this the Pussy War is very strong but I will restrain that urge for the greater good.

A Wormhole Corporation by the name of Mnemonic Enterprises has initiated a WarDec on the alliance I head, Inari Kimon. The war went live today, 11/27/11, at 0225 Eve time. War comes to all pilots in New Eden, eventually, and this is not our first Dance, just a different partner. The timing is not ideal, with Crucible set to arrive in a few days, but only the aggressor gets to choose the timing. No reason need be given for making war on another; you simply have to pay CONCORD, the cops of New Eden, to look the other way. Reasons, however, are what make wars worth fighting; or not. To fight a great injustice; to right a terrible wrong; even to conquer territory. These are reasons men go to war. Sometimes, however, the reasons are not so grand, not so high minded, or even greed fueled. The reason for our war? Well, because one of our alliance pilots, who was ganked and podded by a pilot from ME, called the ME pilot a “pussy”. Yes, his precious ego was lacerated straight through to his heart, and he needed his brother pilots, all 54 of them, to bandage his wound. To be sure, there have been many wars fought OVER pussy (Helen of Troy comes to mind), but, because he was CALLED a pussy……. Duels have been fought over such trivial slights, (indeed, a Frigate duel between the two pilots was offered) but wars? There is, undoubtedly, more to this war than slight or slander. I believe Mnemonic Enterprises saw a Wormhole full of carebear industrialists and saw what they believed to be a weak enemy, ripe for the plucking. They may even have thought they were doing New Eden a favor by rising up to eliminate this unworthy pestilence. They were disabused of that notion today with the loss of a Drake battlecruiser and a Sleipnir command ship within a few hours activation of the WarDec.

Inari Kimon is a small alliance consisting, for now, of two Corporations. Fox Clan is an industrial Corp, made up mainly from alts, and used for Planetary Interaction. Pisces Group is another matter entirely. Ex carebears with PvP aspirations, PG pilots are on a journey. We have not yet reached our goal, by any means, but we have learned some important, and at times harsh, lessons and Pisces fleets are made up of pilots who have learned Fleet composition and, while still evolving, fleet discipline, along with proper ship fitting and skill sets. The fleet that met the meager showing of ME was not an elite PvP gang, by any stretch of the imagination and ME was most certainly not taking us seriously. Mnemonic Enterprises fielded only 3-4 pilots and only 2 ships were encountered and targeted. I suspect ME thought we would run and hide to wait out the WarDec timer through the week. It is certain they were not expecting the fairly disciplined, well armed fleet they encountered and that is what brings this story full circle. NEVER go to war with the assumption that your opponents are a bunch of… well… pussies. Good hunting!

Historical Thoughts...

I thought I would take some time and put down some thoughts on our new alliance and a brief summary leading to it’s formation.
I’m very excited about the formation of this alliance. This is a whole new aspect of EvE for me. I have not been a CEO for that long and now forming an alliance: heady stuff! My experience within EvE has taught me to be wary of entering into relationships, formal and informal, for betrayal is a part of living in the EvE universe. After nearly 3 years in the Eve-verse I have relatively few friends or acquaintances that I regularly fly with. My road to forming relationships in New Eden has been slow but I feel certain that I am flying with people I like and, as much as can be in Eve, people I trust. This is no small thing. We have all been on the sh**ty end of betrayal in game and we all know how that feels. I felt very blessed when I fell in with OldRoaddog65 and CC&C a couple years ago when the first Corp I was in (also a small group of like-minded folk) became static and I felt the need to move on. Then Freedom7 came onboard and, for the first time, I felt a kindred spirit in Eve. CC&C formed an alliance and during that time The Gohrr family came along and Scrauglan came back and the base of an in-game family unit was formed; and tested. We were War-decc’d by some pretty serious folk and disbandment of the newly formed alliance was the price of settling it and L.R.O. was formed in the aftermath… and then there was TigerXtrm, who ripped us off for approx 10 billion ISK in assets. Our core got smaller, but tighter; we began to form and adopt some rules and ethics to play by and what to look for in others. “Like-minded” became a watch/catch phrase in our game play. We were playing and living, for the most part, as two corps. There was our core living in, and maintaining a Class 1 Wormhole, and, what I have referred to as, the “Malma Miners” who, basically, just wanted to spend their time in the belts, well, mining. At some point in here we, well, that is, Free, came across Fox Clan and a dialog was begun. Then Fox Clan was War-decc’d and we offered sanctuary in our C1. Fox Clan took a risk and moved in to a Class 1 Wormhole with a relatively unknown group and the leap of faith, on both sides, paid off. The members of Fox Clan seemed to be well suited to our “like-minded” approach and, the IOG incident aside, this turned out to be the case. We drew together as a griefing invader, Amthala et al, came to roost in our little patch of Eden and the friendship between Fox Clan and L.R.O. grew stronger. When it became obvious that occupation in the C1 was untenable it also became obvious that the wormhole dwellers were tired of a passive lifestyle. We felt this made a split from L.R.O. necessary so we formed our own Corp, Pisces Group, with Wormhole occupation and PvP as it’s stated goal. Several members of Fox Clan expressed interest in the same goals and invitations to join Pisces were made. The merger of the two clans seemed to be the end of Fox Clan, a Corp/Guild name that had been born and carried through several game incarnations. An element of stress and drama began to creep in, threatening to undo a promising growth adventure. We all felt this should be avoided. I felt this presented an opportunity to accomplish our goal of merging like game styles and, at the same time, preserve a small gaming legacy. Our alliance, Inari Kimon, was born.

Inari Kimon

Briefly… Inari is a Japanese kami, or spirit, of the Shinto belief. Among other things, Inari is believed to be a protector of warriors and sea-folk and the fox is one of the images associated with Inari. The addition of the word Kimon makes a more convoluted image but, very loosely translated, Inari Kimon brings the image of “Demon Guardians of the Gate”. If not who we are yet, it is who we aspire to be. We will continue to build upon this idea and make it our identity as a group. Welcome to the journey!

Welcome...

Welcome to my blog where I will attempt to chronicle the adventures in New Eden of the FarSeeker clan, their friends, Corporation, and Alliance. The FarSeeker clan, et al, live in Wormhole space in the New Eden universe of Eve Online. They are, pardon me, I can’t resist, “anomalous dwellers”. The FarSeekers’ belong to a Corporation called Pisces Group in a small Alliance called Inari Kimon. The stories I post will have to do with life within the New Eden universe, Pisces Group, and Inari Kimon, as well as Wormhole life itself. My first few post will include reposts I have authored, from other places and our alliance forum, in order to fill in some of the history of the people and places that will populate this blog.
